What’s the most innovative idea that you’ve tried in your classroom? One innovative approach I’ve implemented is personalized learning. I tailor lessons and activities to individual student interests and skill levels. This method allows students to progress at their own pace, ensuring a deeper understanding of complex topics while keeping them engaged and motivated.

Who is the best teacher you ever had and what made him or her special? I am blessed to have had many great teachers. My ninth-grade history teacher, Coach Steimer, really stands out. His ability to build a personal connection with each of his students made him special. He was a role model both in and out of the classroom. I try to incorporate many of the lessons he taught me into my practice.

What can parents do to prepare their children for learning? Parents should discuss the importance of education with their kids. Parents can help their kids set academic and personal goals. Parents can also monitor online activities, and limit screen time.

What are the obstacles to getting all kids to achieve? One obstacle to student achievement is the diversity in learning styles. Every student wants to learn, they just may not all learn the same way. To overcome this, teachers can implement differentiated instruction, offering a variety of teaching methods and materials that cater to individual learning preferences, ensuring that each student can engage with the content in a way that suits them best.
