HISTORY:
i-Grad Virtual Academy opened in August 2021 as a 9-12 Virtual High School, the first in Cherokee County School District history. The school opened with 177 students and is located at 8871 Knox Bridge Highway in Canton on what is now known as ACTIVE Campus. The ACTIVE Campus is the former Teasley Middle School campus, built in 1986 and used for that purpose until 2013, and it houses i-Grad Virtual Academy, ACE Academy, the district’s alternative school, C3 College and Career Academy, the district’s new Career Focused program open to students in all six traditional high schools, and the Transition Academy, a program for special needs students who gain job and life skills after they have completed their diplomas in the traditional high schools.
ACTIVE is an acronym that incorporates the programs and schools housed on campus, and the name of i-Grad was developed to incorporate the virtual aspect of the school with the end goal, which is graduation from high school as a future ready graduate.
i-Grad Virtual Academy offers a unique model where students take a full selection of high school courses in a digital format, often working from home with the opportunity to come to campus to work and receive instruction and support from their teachers. This includes hands-on activities and demonstrations that work better in person, and these on-campus opportunities are a favorite of students and teachers alike.
